Profile

A Demon Beast Digimon that resembles a gargoyle. Data in its Digicore links it to one of several Crests, shapes associated with the mysteries of evolution since the ancient days of the Digital World. In this case, it is influenced by the Crest of Light, which is associated with Holy-species Digimon and the element of Light. Despite meeting all the criteria for a Holy-species Digimon, Gargomon also possess an abundance of Demon-species data in their Digicores, lending credence to folklore that states they were once a demonic species. The restraints covering their body are said to seal away their evil nature and grant them holy powers.

As indicated by the Crest of Light it bears, encounters with holy forces or relics from the ancient Digital World can skew chances of evolution towards Gargomon. They are one of a number of lesser Holy-species Digimon considered to have a place in the hierarchy of angels - on the bottom rung, in Gargomon's case - and active agents of the Heavenly Host frequently requisition their aid, or deploy them like familiars. They are diverse in personality and intellectual capacity, but tend to be mellow in temperament and are usually found in villages or otherwise in the company of other species of Digimon rather than living wild.

Attacks

Like an Angel Digimon, Gargomon can fly well for long periods of time, but their locomotion is otherwise beastly, befitting their Demon Beast typing. They fight primarily with their claws, and often lift their enemies into the sky to arrest their movements. They can also attack by summoning and throwing masses of data that take the form of statues; in addition to any injury done by the impact itself, when the statues burst into pieces, they release elemental data that deals further damage. Different targets have different weaknesses and resistances, but generally, the element of Light is corrosive to dark-aspected data and vice versa. When Gargomon rest, they can enter a state of hibernation, becoming perfectly still and becoming hard as stone, disguising themselves as statues and improving their durability at the cost of not being able to suddenly make a getaway.

  • White Statue - Summons a white statue with demonic features and hurls it at the opponent. This attack is imbued with the element of Light.
  • Black Statue - Summons a black statue with angelic features and hurls at the opponent. This attack is imbued with the element of Darkness.
